An award-winning author and reporter, Michael has written several best-selling books, including Beyond The Hills: The Journey of Waite Phillips; En Divina Luz: The Penitente Moradas of New Mexico; Mankiller: A Chief and Her People; Way Down Yonder In The Indian Nation; Pretty Boy: The Life and Times of Charles Arthur Floyd; Route 66: The Mother Road; Oklahoma Crossroads; and Oil Man: The Story of Frank Phillips and the Birth of Phillips Petroleum. He co-authored Songdog Diary: 66 Stories From The Road with his wife, Suzanne Fitzgerald Wallis. They also co-edited Greetings From The Mother Road: Route 66 Postcards. Some of his latest titles are The Real Wild West and Heaven's Window. Nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, Michael has received numerous honors for his writing and is a member of the Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame.
