At the 2002 Celebration of Books, the Center presented Marsha Mason with a special award for her distinguished service in the arts. Marsha, author of the memoir, Journey, a Personal Odyssey, has had a remarkable career in film, theater, and television. A two-time Golden Globe winner, she has received Academy Award nominations for her roles in the movies Cinderella Liberty, The Goodbye Girl, Chapter Two, and Only When I Laugh.

Executive producer of two documentaries for the city of Los Angeles, which received Emmy awards, Marsha has also served on the boards of the American Film Institute, the Second Stage Theatre, and the Directors Guild of America. She is currently a member of the National Arts Council.
